3. Essential vs. non-essential
Essential cookies (smt.consent.v1, smt.cart.v1) are required for the site to function — the cart and your own cookie choice can't work without them — so they're always active and aren't subject to opt-in. Non-essential cookies (currently: Google Analytics 4) are never loaded and never set until you actively accept them via the consent banner or the preferences dialog. Rejecting them, or not responding, means they simply don't load.

Change your choice at any time via the "Cookie settings" link in the footer or the button above, both of which reopen the same preferences dialog shown on your first visit. Your choice is stored locally on your device and persists across visits until you change it or clear your browser storage.
